The Opentrons Flex Gripper attaches to the gantry and is capable of moving labware across the deck and on or off modules such as the Magnetic Block or Thermocycler. It can also access the additional slots to the side of the main deck to replenish tips or labware. The gripper can be used with any pipette configuration.

Included with the gripper is a calibration pin that enables automatic calibration to ensure positional accuracy. Currently, the gripper is optimized for use with the following labware items:

• NEST 2 ml 96 Deep Well Plate, V bottom
• Opentrons Tough 0.2 ml 96-Well PCR Plate, Full Skirt
• NEST 96 Well Plate Flat
• All Opentrons Flex tip racks

The Opentrons Flex Waste Chute occupies position D3 and is used to accept waste such as tips, tip racks, and plates in high volumes. The gripper will pick up the consumable and dispose it into the chute based on your workflow needs. The waste chute is neccesary for all high-throughput workflows and can be paired with the Opentrons Flex Deck Expansion Set to maximize the throughput capabilities of the Opentrons Flex. The following consumables can disposed of into the waste chute:

Opentrons Flex Magnetic Block is a 96-well magnetic well plate holder containing static ring magnets, specifically designed for use with the Flex Robot. Use it with the Flex Gripper and skirted 96-well PCR or deep-well plates to facilitate quick and efficient separation using magnetic beads. This module is not compatible with the OT-2.

The Opentrons Temperature Module, compatible with both the OT-2 and Flex Robots, is a fully automated thermoelectric module and integrated for use with the Opentrons platform. It is used to achieve temperature changes ranging from 4 to 95°C for various applications.

The Opentrons Heater-Shaker Module, compatible with both the OT-2 and Flex robots, provides on-deck heating and orbital shaking of microplates. The module can be heated to 95°C, and can shake samples from 200 to 3000 rpm. It is compatible with a number of deep-well and 96-well plates. The Heater-Shaker can be used simultaneously with other Opentrons modules.

The Opentrons Thermocycler Module, compatible with both the OT-2 and Flex Robots, is a fully automated on-deck thermocycler, providing hands-free PCR in a 96-well plate format.

The Thermocycler Module GEN2 with the Flex Thermocycler Caddy and Calibration Adapter is compatible with the new Opentrons Flex Robot. The caddy sits below the deck to enable below-deck cable routing and labware placed on modules remain closer to the deck surface. The calibration adapter is used to calibrate the location of the module.

The Opentrons Flex Deck Expansion Set allows you to utilize up to 4 more positions on the Opentrons Flex worktable. The expansions slots are installed to the right of the worktable, acting as positions A4, B4, C4, and D4 and accepting plates, tube racks, and other labware that support SBS dimensions.

The deck expansion slots are neccesary for all high-throughput workflows and can be paired with the Opentrons Flex Waste Chute to maximize the throughput capabilities of the Opentrons Flex.
