What’s new with the Smart 2.0?

The Smart 2.0 is based on the proven Smart system and has been newly equipped with the X-Control software.
It enables greater flexibility in terms of supported tube and vial formats while simultaneously providing extended process and processing control. In addition, hardware options such as TwinCode and the choice of a microannular gear pump ensure increased precision and adaptability to the workflow – especially for regulated and digitally integrated laboratory environments and specialized dispensing requirements.

Flexible Tube and Vial Processing

Smart 2.0 supports processing of tubes and vials from 0.5 ml to 15 ml without requiring gripper changes. The system accommodates a wide range of labware, including cryovials, biobank tubes, HPLC vials, and FACS tubes. This enables flexible handling of mixed tube formats within a single automated workflow.

Integrated 3-in-1 Workflow

The system combines dispensing, filling, automated capping and decapping, as well as high-resolution labeling within one workflow environment. Integrated processing reduces manual handling effort and supports standardized operation across routine laboratory applications.

Configurable Dispensing Technologies

Different dispensing technologies can be integrated depending on process requirements. Available technologies include peristaltic pumps for contact-free dispensing and rapid media changes, as well as micro annular gear pumps for high dosing precision and process stability.

Efficient Batch Processing

The system is designed for efficient processing with extended walk-away times. Depending on workflow configuration, Smart 2.0 processes up to six SBS-format racks in parallel and supports throughput of up to 370 tubes per hour.

The TwinCode barcoding system combines bottom and side barcode information to support tube-specific workflows and traceability. This enables unique tube identification, automated process decisions, and complete assignment of process data throughout dispensing and labeling operations.

What is the throughput of Smart 2.0?

Depending on the workflow, Smart 2.0 achieves throughput rates of up to 370 tubes per hour.
